THIS is an embellishment for a trinket box.

Using punches to cut metal is a really easy and fun way to give a project a distinctive design edge. The product requires overnight drying.

YOU WILL NEED: ‘Virtue’ texture plate from Creaticca Studio One piece green craft metal cut to fit the lid of the tin and slightly bigger than the texture plate Embossing machine Marine silicone Two pieces green craft metal, cut into strips slightly wider than the pattern on the edge punch (these need to be long enough to fit around the tin) Hand-embossing tools Pattern stencil (your choice) Sanding block Tin big enough for design Gold gilder’s paste Clear glass glaze Green glitter dust Double-sided adhesive tape Edge punch of your choice for the bottom of the tin Soft-tipped brush to apply glass glaze

Steps:

Secure the texture plate in the centre of the metal with the silver side facing the plate, and machine-emboss it.

Remove the texture plate and fill in the reverse of the design using marine silicone then leave to dry overnight.

Hand-emboss the stencil design around the edge, with the silver side facing the stencil. Make sure all the lines are neatly defined before removing the stencil.

Sand some colour off the design to create a contrast.

Highlight the embossed edge by applying gilder’s paste. Add extra sparkle to the design by painting some areas with clear glass glaze, sprinkle glitter dust over while the glaze is still wet, and leave to dry for 30 minutes, then shake off excess glitter.

Stick the metal to the lid of the tin with marine silicone.

Apply double-sided adhesive tape to the silver side of one of the metal strips and stick it around the lower edge of the tin.

Put the second strip of metal through the edge punch to cut out the pattern.

Apply adhesive tape to the green side of this piece, but do not remove the backing from the tape.

Flatten the metal on your work surface and sprinkle it with glitter dust. This will stick to the adhesive tape showing through the cut-out areas of the pattern.

Shake off all the excess glitter. Make sure the pattern strip is neat by using nail scissors to cut away any adhesive tape that might be sticking over the edges.

Remove the adhesive backing from this strip and stick the strip neatly on top of the green strip on the tin.
