Huffington Post plans to enter SA

HUFFINGTON Post, the US online politics and news site, plans to start appearing in South Africa in partnershi­p with Naspers’ unit Media24 to take advantage of the growing number of internet users in the country. South Africa will be the 17th internatio­nal market in five years for Huffington Post, part of New York-based telecoms provider Verizon Communicat­ions. “South Africa is an extremely exciting market for the company as internet users there are expected to grow to 35.4 million by 2018, digital video is expected to grow by more than 29 percent, and overall cellphone users to 41.5 million,” South Africaborn chief executive Jared Grusd said in the statement. – Bloomberg
