Young people must support the king

-

ALLOW me to congratulate the Zulu kingdom and the Zulu nation at large for celebrating 200 years of existence.

The Zulu kingdom again has shown the world that indeed it is a nation among the nations, and it is a nation that plays a very important part in building unity and fighting imperialism.

Many thanks to our king for playing a role in directing his kingdom towards achieving a better life and putting this nation on to the world map.

As young people, we should support our king in coming out and criticising all wrong activities that are currently happening in KwaZulu-Natal: the burning of universities in the name of fighting for free education, and the killing of rhino.

For many years the king has been silent on issues affecting his people, but now we are witnessing him taking centre stage in dealing with issues affecting his nation.

The king has to be involved in issues of governance and oversee the administration of his kingdom.

Our king has been bold, even in criticising the politicians for failing his people in terms of service delivery.

It is time for our king to be given a chance on some issues affecting the nation because we have seen politicians sometimes hesitate to take a stand on some policy issues for fear of losing votes. But the king has not been voted in, he is there to stay. He will never surrender his subjects to crises, he will protect his people.

We young people must rally behind our king and support him in spearheading developmental issues that will benefit the nation, and protect our values and beliefs. Our king has to map the way forward.

It is for us young people to stand up and support the call in developing our nation and protecting our values and heritage. We should be proud of our monarch and give him all the support we can in achieving his developmental goals for his nation. PAUL CELE Richmond
