Green Star shines out

AT the celebration of the awarding of 5-star Green Star SA Existing Building Performance rating for its Mutualpark offices in Pinelands, Cape Town, Rose Keanly, chief operating officer of Old Mutual Emerging Markets, said the certification underscored the company’s commitment to making a positive impact on socio-economic and environmental issues in the country.

“Given rising electricity tariffs and current constraints on the electricity supply, energy efficiency is critical to economic growth and stability,” she said.

Brian Wilkinson, chief executive of the Green Building Council of SA, said Mutualpark represented all that a green building should be – energy and resource efficient, and environmentally responsible: “This is also by far the largest green building in South Africa.”
