Eat fresh foods, be active

-

IT’S THAT time of the year when we dread getting out of bed because of the cold, and we eat fried foods to keep warm. In fact, we should be eating fresh foods, and should be active now to reach healthy body goals.

“You need to start now to get a healthy-looking body in December next year,” said personal and group trainer Andre Visser. “Losing weight too fast is not healthy.”

Towards bikini season, one starts seeing social media posts of people kicking off their diets in the hopes of looking good in December, forgetting that they have spent half the year binge-eating.

“Diets don’t work, you need to have a complete lifestyle change to achieve results.”

A good example of someone who turned around his lifestyle – and weight – is Gauteng Education Department spokesperson Steve Mabona.

“I was overweight, I think I was about 112kg. My turning point was when I experienced a heart attack scare. Doctors suggested a lifestyle change.

“I joined a gym in June 2009, changed my diet and followed an exercise programme from the gym,” Mabona said.

“For six months I had to cut sugar intake, stop alcohol consumption, and focus on healthy eating.” – African News Agency (ANA) EGYPTIAN English literature professor Mona Prince has been suspended from her job at Suez Canal University, more than a year after a video of her dancing sparked controversy online, Al Ahram reports.

A copy of the decision by university head Al-Sayed Al-Sharqawy, which Prince shared online on Tuesday, showed that the disciplinary committee ordered her to be suspended from her position three weeks ago. However, her removal was only reported by local media this week.

Investigations were launched last year by the university after Prince shared a video online showing her dancing on the rooftop of her home in a bikini. – African News Agency (ANA)
