Vogue called it in July 2018 – that structured handbags would be the only fashion accessory you’d want slung around your wrist. Whether it’s bamboo or reed, this is a trend that has an evident, architectural sense about it that’s pushing boho-slouchy chic to the back of the line.

BICYCLE SHORTS

No one could have guessed that cycling apparel would make its way into the realm of fashion, but it has, and we have Kim Kardashian West to thank. Leggings re-emerged as “real pants” when athleisure became everyone’s go-to look. But things are on a new level. From leather trench coats to biker jackets and heels, this sporty-chic style is the one everyone’s after in 2019, according to Glamour magazine (and a host of others) who placed the trend on its 10 Biggest Fashion Trends for 2019 list.

GO GLOSSY

make one’s best features shine through seems to be the make-up trend to look out for. Cosmopolitan magazine forecasted we won’t just be ditching matte liquid lipsticks for gloss, but the trend will extend to our skin, eyelids and “wherever else we want our hair to get stuck”.

EYEBROW CONTOURING

According to In Style Magazine, contouring is set to take centre stage in 2019. It’s a toned down take on the “brows-on-fleek” trend in 2014. The look is supposed to lift, frame and contour your facial features and is achieved by applying colour with an ombre-like effect, lighter in the front, darker in the tail.
