The Mercury

Is the Yemen tragedy not newsworthy?

-

THE world we live in never fails to amaze me. We have Rupert Murdoch’s mass media programme Sky News giving hours of viewing time to the tragic events in New Zealand, where 50 people were murdered in mosques by an Australian right-wing extremist.

In yesterday ‘s edition of The Mercury, there were photographs and articles, including an editorial, on this same tragedy.

By comparison Sky News gives very little time to the tragic events in Yemen, where thousands die daily by violence or associated diseases.

The Mercury had two column inches in the same edition on the Yemen tragedy.

If Sky News and The Mercury gave more time to the tragic events in Yemen, it could possibly assist in bringing this terrible war between the two factions to an end.

New Zealand is now going to make radical changes to its gun laws, as the foreign national in question bought four guns online, and I would suggest the US make changes to its international gun laws and stop supplying weapons of war to Saudi Arabia.
