EYESIZWE Contractor Development Programme is designed to create access to government work for emerging contractors and built environment consultants. Its empowerment objectives include an intensive training programme with industry partners like banks. Registration on the ECDP database on www.kznworks.gov.za closes on 16 April 2019. Previously registered contractors are required to re-register for the new phase. An awards ceremony will be hosted this week by MEC Ravi Pillay to recognise those programme participants who have moved up the grade with their businesses. MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works Ravi Pillay and mayors have been visiting communities across the Province to hand over 16 227 deeds to qualifying beneficiaries The Provincial launch of Phase 4 of the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) takes place on Friday, 22 March 2019 at Esikhawini TVET College at 9am. Members of the public are invited to attend. EPWP is one of the largest public employment programmes in the world. In Phase 3, KwaZulu-Natal was the leading contributor nationally to job creation with 750 000 job opportunities. The national target for Phase 4 is 5.6 million.
