Momberg appeal bid postponed

-

VICKI Momberg’s appeal against her two-year jail term for crimen injuria has been postponed by the high court in Joburg.

Her case was due to be heard yesterday, but her new legal team asked for more time to familiarise themselves with the matter.

Momberg was found guilty on four counts of crimen injuria for calling a black police officer the K-word 48 times when he came to her aid after a smash-and-grab incident.

She was sentenced in March last year to three years’ jail, of which one year was suspended, following her racist tirade in 2016.

Defence advocate Anesh Sukdeo asked the court to postpone the hearing. It was set for June 11. | African News Agency (ANA)
