What it means to us…

A word from some of the volunteers

SOUTH AFRICAN SUGAR ASSOCIATION

The spirit of volunteerism has become one of the attributes of our beautiful nation. The South African Sugar Association (SASA) is committed to contributing positively to society. It is for this reason that we joined forces with the Ubuntu Community Chest to help those who are less fortunate through our acts of volunteerism. This year’s Day of Caring saw our SASA staff leave their office duties to paint rooms at LifeLine Durban. It is an experience they truly cherished.

SA NAVY

The satisfaction of giving back to our communities is indescribable. We have formed a 21-year partnership with Ubuntu Community Chest, and had four teams of volunteers participate. Each team got to showcase their painting skills. The teams have great enthusiasm to go out and make a difference whenever they are given an opportunity.

GOSCOR

There is no “I” in teamwork – this was definitely a team effort with the volunteers from Goscor Access Solutions and Warriors of Hope.

From the moment we got there, we had team spirit and were determined to reach our goal by completing the project. We had a capable team and enjoyed sanding down to taping up, painting and cleaning – it was team effort and we are so grateful we could be part of this project. The third SA Navy team did a meticulous job in the refurbishment of a jungle gym at Ethelbert Child and Youth Centre. Thank you Dulux Specialist Paint Centres (Matthews Meyiwa Road and Kenneth Kaunda Road) and ICI Dulux, for sponsoring the paint, brushes and other items needed to complete all the projects. This is the 21st year of support received from Dulux Specialist Paint Centre. Their support is overwhelming as they sponsor every essential item, such as masking tape, turpentine and even cloths. Each item is individually labelled and delivered to the Community Chest. In addition, they also sponsor a special Day of Caring T-shirt for each volunteer.
