Right recipe to join dazzling business set

- TONY BALL | Gillitts

A GOOD few years ago the then Chief Executive of the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry suggested I join the organisation and I recall that the membership fee was between R1 000 and R2 000 per annum.

Thus I was flabbergasted to read (August 22) that membership had grown from 3 000 to 54 000, which seems strange when I read that all around us businesses are battling or closing down. I trust that was not a typographical error.

Given the flair and glitz and obvious wealth of the attendees on show at the DCCI Gala Dinner I must thus conclude that becoming a member is clearly the recipe to becoming one of the “dazzling business set” and I regret not joining.

Clearly Durban is bucking the trend of the nation’s financial difficulties.
