Putin’s made no plan to pardon prisoners
MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has not made a decision on pardoning thousands of prisoners so far as the country prepares to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Soviet Union victory in World War II next year, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said yesterday.
The chairperson of the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights, Mikhail Fedotov, said: “No, the president has no formulated a position on this matter yet. No decisions have been made so far.”
In 2015, which marked the 70th anniversary of WWII Victory, amnesty was granted to about
60 000 prisoners. |
