Hot racing despite the cold
time for both heats meant he took overall honours in the class, cementing his lead in the series. Ronald van Rensburg (Hendok VW Golf) and Rob Prece (Dubcorp VW Golf) had their own two-heat battle and ended the day second and third respectively in Class A.
Class B honours went to Tim Kinsey (Easy Systems VW Golf) from Richard Loynes (VW Golf) and Christopher van der Westhuizen (Cris Industries VW Golf). Class C went to Gary Brown (Impro Mobile Ford Escort) followed by Dave Burton (VW Golf) and Zahid Assam (Mayfair Gearbox VW Golf).
On two wheels, Malcolm Rudman (M-Projects Kawasaki 400) won the 300 Class and A-Class of the Formula Extreme where he races the M-Projects Kawasaki ZX6. With Nicolai Conci not racing, Rudman has an almost unassailable lead in the 300 championship with closest rival Blaze Baker (Actum/Band-It Yamaha 450) 79 points behind.
The same applies in the Formula Extreme series where he tops the table on 277 points from Jay Baxendale (Yamaha R6) and Hein Etzel (Argotek Yamaha 1000).
Despite a scary crash that saw Duncan Day (Yamaha 450) taken to hospital with suspected concussion after an incident with a slower rider and Llewelyn Puren (Honda NSR 426), the latter tops the Powersport category with Day in second place, but is a doubtful starter for the penultimate round next month.
The day belonged to Shaun Joffe riding the same TZR 85 he uses in the CBR150 Class. Joffe won in both heats and capitalised his lead in the 150 Class by winning both those heats as well and consolidating his championship hopes against Lee Singh (DblApex Honda).
