Ample proof there’s light at end of tunnel

-

LISTENING to President Ramaphosa’s speeches since the introduction of lockdown regulations, South Africa is slowly seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Despite all the challenges the government and its people are facing, he has always been saying that all of us are going to weather the storm; and behind the scenes, the Gauteng Provincial Shared Service Centre office of the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development went ahead with its mandate of developing rural areas by bettering the lives of communities.

Recently, the department, in conjunction with the Gauteng Department of Education, and other stakeholders, handed over to the community of Die Poort in Hekpoort, a newly built Die Poort Primary Farm School with the potential to accommodate more than 800 pupils. The erection and handover of school infrastructure to any poor community provide a ray of sunshine and gives hope to the community because education is the key to success. This will go a long way towards the upliftment of Hekpoort as a community. Kudos to our government for giving the farm community of Hekpoort a new lease on life.

However, while vandalism of schools across the country continues to worsen, my appeal to members of the public is that they need to protect this school and work with the police so that the future of the black child goes on without any disruption. And those who are found to be in the wrong should be locked up for a long time.
