DStv repeats, channel changes annoying

-

ONCE again I write with reference to DStv channel closures.

I recently wrote to them regarding the closure of channel 123, for which I am still awaiting the courtesy of a reply.

I was shocked then at that closure and now in their infinite wisdom they have decided to close BBC First.

They are thus depriving paying customers of even more classy British programming and leaving us with ludicrous US reality programmes, pathetic sitcoms, Real wives of wherever, as if I could care less, and the Kardashians… really, the last people I want to keep up with!

The last BBC channel 120 in prime time is showing repeats of My Family from the dark ages on Friday, repeats on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, how many repeats of Top Gear and in the evening only one programme which is not a repeat.

For this I pay nearly R1 000 a month.

As an avid sports fan I am really impressed with the DStv sports coverage but the number of stations dedicated to sport in various languages and imported from the US could easily be reduced and the savings made could go towards bringing in something really interesting like detective series, costume and modern dramas direct from BBC or ITV like we used to enjoy.

On Saturday I searched through all the channels to find something worthwhile to watch.

Amazingly I found nothing other than sport. Who watches these other obscure niche channels?

Probably far fewer than those who watched the previous BBC/ITV channels but probably they are cheaper to flight than imports from the UK and I suppose it’s all about profits rather than customer satisfaction.

Apparently DStv did a survey to ascertain the needs of customers but no one I know has ever received one.

Also, what was the question asked which led you to the belief that no one watched 119 channel?

Surely you have all our names and email addresses so you could easily send a questionnaire to everyone and get a realistic overview of what people watch and what channels are the most popular.

Maybe you might deign to respond to the above and I can decide whether or not to cancel my contract with you and join the many who have moved to Netflix which is far cheaper and offers a better range of entertainment. BROCK ALLEN | via email
