African football needs Motsepe

-

THE National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Nafcoc) endorses Dr Patrice Motsepe's presidential bid for the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Motsepe served as the national president of Nafcoc from 2002 to 2006. The federation is of the view that over the years Motsepe has gained strong business and leadership acumen to lead this continent’s football giant to greater heights.

His passion for football, the administration of professionalism in the business of sport and the development of young leaders, has been demonstrated during in his tenure as the president of Mamelodi Sundowns FC.

This is confirmed by Mamelodi Sundowns’ habitual excellence, reaching the pinnacle of success in South Africa and in the African continent.

His belief in indigenous African leadership has been proven in his business ventures and at Sundowns, where he allowed the likes of Pitso Mosimane to blossom and become one of the most respected coaches in the continent and the world.

Motsepe has the know-how to take African football to the next level. We are very proud of Motsepe for his achievements as a successful businessman, as the former Nafcoc president and as a president of Mamelodi Sundowns FC. We believe that he is a visionary leader who will propel CAF, and African football in general, to new and greater heights.

Africa is a football-mad continent and its citizens are yearning for the game to grow to its full potential. The continent is also host to millions of young and aspiring footballers. Some of these young people need not have to leave the continent to have successful careers. They can do it here on the continent if the right conditions and necessary resources are well developed.

Motsepe and his executive will be tasked with developing these resources. We believe they will succeed if given support and the necessary space to lead.

Nafcoc calls on South Africans and all other Africans to support Motsepe’s bid to lead CAF.
