Last day to register for supplementaries

THE Department of Basic Education (DBE) in KwaZulu-Natal says last year’s matric pupils who want to improve their marks have to register today for supplementary exams.

The department said today was the last day to register for the exams. They include the June/November National Senior Certificate (NSC), and Senior Certificate (SC).

According to the department, the registration dates were moved forward because of the late release of the matric results.

It said candidates were only allowed to register for subjects they had previously registered for in the November exams. The department added that candidates absent from one or more external question papers with a valid reason were eligible to register. Those reasons included being medically unfit, death in the immediate family or other special reasons.

“The candidate has the choice to write only the outstanding papers or all the papers. Where an irregularity is being investigated, provisional enrolment for the NSC June examination may be granted to the candidate concerned, pending the outcome of the investigation. “Candidates who were unable to write or complete one or more of the NSC November examination question papers for reasons other than illness, injury or death in the family, may apply to write the NSC June examination, provided a written report is submitted by the school principal to the head of the assessment body,” the department said. Candidates can register at their respective district offices or on www.eservices.gov.za
