Musk wants world to make more babies

- Kloof

THE world’s richest man wants the world to make more babies. While many are alarmed about the ballooning human population, Elon Musk, the naturalised American, is worried about the declining birth rate in First World countries.

He himself has fathered 10 children and wants everyone to join in the baby-making frenzy. How very thoughtful of him. While it’s true that birth rates are declining in First World countries such as Japan, Canada and the US, there’s no let-up in the production of babies in the poorer Third World countries, which more than makes up for the shortfall in the First World countries.

Elon Musk is much admired around the world for being the most successful entrepreneur in the world. Apparently, he read all the books in the Pretoria library by the age of 12. But I am surprised and disappointed when a man as intelligent as him asks the world to make more babies.

Of course, he can talk like that because he can afford to have a large family. Even if he gives each of his 10 children a billion dollars, it would be a mere drop in the ocean.

There were just one billion people in 1800. But with the Industrial Revolution, it ballooned out of all proportions and is now almost 8 billion.

Despite all the wars, famine, natural disasters, pestilences, murders, mass killings and road accidents, the world population continues to climb at an annual rate of 83 million.

But after reaching a peak of 10 billion in 2065 it is expected to decline. Even if it drops by one or two billion, the world population would still be very high and would continue to wreak havoc on the environment.

Just look at what 8 billion of us have done to the Earth. There’s no place on Earth which has been left unscarred by man.

But what if one day the human race disappears altogether? Writers such as Farouk Araie have been warning about the devastation a nuclear holocaust would cause. It could reduce the Earth to cinders and wipe out the entire human race. But would it really matter?

Tragic as it may be, it could actually be beneficial to the Earth. The Earth will bounce back. You think the plants and animals and wildlife will be sad at the demise of the human race and miss us?

Will any creature shed a tear for us? Never!

They will rejoice and celebrate. They would be rid of the most destructive pest the world has ever known.

What a joy it would be to have the entire Earth for themselves. Plants, trees and wildlife will thrive once more, invade towns and cities and take back what was rightfully theirs.

With no farms, mines and fences, animals will be able to roam freely once more.

There would be no cars and factories, too, belching out toxic gases.

The Earth will able to breathe again. Ah, how clean, pure and pristine the Earth will become again!

And Elon Musk wants the world to have more babies. How can an intelligent man like him not see what 8 billion of us have done to the Earth?

Sounds so much like Trump. THYAGARAJ MARKANDAN |
