No leadership: Absurdity of US war stance

-

BEFORE World War II, the prevailing world order was not based on specific principles or values; it was like a jungle, meaning strong countries could invade and occupy weak countries and plunder their resources under the world’s watch without anyone interfering from other countries.

That was one of the reasons World War II broke out, in which about 60 million people were killed. The killing and destruction caused by that war prompted the late US President Roosevelt to seek a new world order aimed at promoting peace, stability, justice, economic cooperation, respect for the right of self-determination of peoples, and peaceful settlement of disputes to avoid more wars.

To achieve these goals, Roosevelt, before he passed away, took some practical steps to rebuild the post-war world by establishing international organisations such as the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and other international organisations.

The same great president also believed that the United States should not be isolated from the world and should even be the primary sponsor of this new order. Now, with the support of the US, there is ongoing Israeli mass destruction and killing of civilians in Gaza, in addition to what is happening in Ukraine, Sudan, Yemen, and China Sea…etc.

The world is missing fair and decisive leadership, which President Roosevelt demonstrated. We are back to the brutal order that prevailed before World War II. Now, the world is guided only by power, influence, self-interest, and double standards.

For example, isn’t it ridiculous to see the US and the West condemning Russia for attacking civilians in Ukraine while they are supporting and providing Israel with advanced weapons to attack civilians in Gaza?

Despite this, the West still believes that Israeli aggression, killing more than 30 thousand, mostly women and children, and blocking food and medical supplies to the entrapped civilians in Gaza, does not rise to the level of genocide and war crime!

The US, in particular, must be rational in its blind bias toward Israel, as it has started to support it even in actions that harm the interests and credibility of both America and Israel itself. America is violating the world order designed and introduced by the US itself, as we mentioned above.

It was also absurd to see the United States using its veto power four times to object to resolutions submitted by other countries to the Security Council of the United Nations calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

That was the first time to see America objecting to a resolution to stop fighting in a war and instead calling for the continuation of it!
