Despite his flaws, Gandhi was a hero

-

OF LATE, there has been lots of bashing of the spiritual remains of Mohanlal Karamchand Gandhi (aka the Mahatma) from many self-appointed saintly writers to the media.

Some from the once privileged class who probably never bothered to even give this man a second thought, especially during the not too distant-past apartheid days. They think of him only as another “naked fakir”, like the greatest racist of them all – Churchill – referred to Gandhi.

Due to being a constant thorn in the side of the British Empire – no other reason. The British like even adversaries to be dressed in recently ironed suit and tie, of course.

Others that have recently joined the free-for-all slamming of the Mahatma must be, I guess, merely the extension mouthpieces of the Modi-Netanyahu/ RSS/BJP grand alliance, who are clutching at paper straws as international argument against Zionist Israel gathers greater momentum and other genocidal-promoting nations (read: Germany) begin to back-pedal to avoid complicity in the 11th hour.

Gandhi was certainly an utterly flawed hero. Nevertheless a hero. Even if selective.

Unlike most others who did nothing, do nothing, say nothing, to even slightly point even any baby fingers at the ongoing, horrific, intentional, total -wipe-out massacre in Gaza. Especially from this genetically infected apartheid country. It’s difficult to remove this poison from our psyches. EBRAHIM ESSA | Durban
