JOBURG: The City of Ekurhuleni yesterday told the SAHuman Rights Commission of Inquiry that it recently seized goods, which are suspected to be counterfeit, in spaza shops.

Jerry Chaka said samples, confiscated during an inspection in the Tembisa area a week ago, were sent to the National Health Laboratory Services for testing.

A Consumer Goods Council official, Matlou Setati, told the commission that consumers must make a point of checking if products have barcodes, as this helps to track where a product comes from and its contents. | African News Agency (ANA)
