Daunting challenge... but Batohi is up to it

- ISMAIL MOOLLA | Durban

PRESIDENT Cyril Ramaphosa did not make a bad decision by choosing Shamila Batohi from a list of five names to head the national prosecuting authority.

Batohi is very skilled and known to be a “no-nonsense” person, and I am sure she will bring corrupt elements well-deserved justice.

I believe those who are accountable won’t be able to get away with their crimes.

Batohi should, without delay, launch herself into the backlog of cases so that it does not take years and years to bring corrupt elements to justice.

She is known to be impartial. She shows no demonstrable allegiance to any political party, and let’s hope she stays that way.

Best of luck to her for taking on a tough job – the task at hand will indeed be a big challenge for her, but she is capable.
