Egypt, Jordan in talks to boost ties
CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi travelled to Jordan for talks yesterday, against the backdrop of the US seeking to build a regional front against Iran.
El-Sisi will meet Jordanian King Abdullah II to talk about boosting ties.
The visit comes amid US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s trip to the Middle East aimed at reassuring Washington’s allies that it will not retreat from the region. Pompeo has unveiled efforts to create an Arab Nato-style alliance aimed at counterbalancing Iran, a country he has called the “world’s largest state sponsor of terror”.
