Rape accused Vavi admits Cosatu sex
IT WASN’T a good year for embattled Cosatu boss Zwelinzima Vavi, accused of raping a junior colleague at Cosatu House, a scandal that saw him being suspended. But even more newsworthy was that the woman demanded R2m for her silence, and also withdrew her “grievance” at the middle of an internal Cosatu disciplinary proceeding. To make matters worse, media coverage tended to focus more on Vavi being a victim of political onslaught. Although Vavi denied raping her he publicly admitted to having sexual intercourse at the Cosatu building on January 25.
