Obituary - Cedric Dallas
It is with great sadness that we advise that Cedric Dallas, a director of The Free Range Chicken Company and Eikenhof Poultry Farms, passed away on Saturday 12th August after a brave battle against cancer.
Cedric grew up in Natal and started his career in the 1970’s with the Natal Parks Board.
He then moved to the poultry industry, initially working for Rainbow for 9 years and thereafter for Tongaat as Production Director for many years. In 1992, Cedric joined the Melsetter Group as Director and CEO of the Poultry Division, where he worked until his retirement in 2007. During this time, he served on the Egg Organisation of SAPA for many years, and was awarded Honorary Life Membership for his services to the industry.
After his retirement, he continued to play an active role and as a provider of wise counsel as a non-executive director of The Free Range Chicken Company, the holding company of Eikenhof Poultry Farms, Klipfontein Organics and Peak Pullets.
In his spare time, Cedric maintained an active and abiding interest in conservation, retaining membership of the Game Rangers Association and travelling several times a year to spend time in nature, photographing and viewing game in various parts of Africa. He also enjoyed running, completing several Comrades and Two Oceans marathons, as well as cycling.
Cedric will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by his many friends and industry colleagues.
We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Jackie, sons Barry and Bruce and their families, and share their immense loss.¡
