ON THE SPORTS SCENE Girls achieve in hockey
HOCKEY vs Aliwal North: 1st won 3-0, 2nd lost 1-4, 3rd won 4-2, U16B won 2-1, U14A won 5- 0. Derby Day vs Victoria Girls’ High School: hockey: 1st won 2-0, 2nd won 3-1, U16A won 5-0, U16B won 4-0, U16C drew 1-1, U14A won 4-1, U14B won 2-0. Netball: U19A lost 20-23, U19B won 12-10. Squash vs Clarendon: The Top 5 team beat Clarendon 10- 6. GHS will now represent Border at the national Top Schools Tournament in August.
Queen’s College:
Derby vs Graeme College: Squash: Match drawn 4-4 in matches but Queen’s lost 15-16 in games. Cross country: Queen’s second team beat Graeme 33-47. The team with the lowest points win the fixture. The score is calculated on the position of the top six runners from each school. Rugby: U14A won 52-5, U14B won 49-0, U15A won 5-3, U15B won 38-10, U15C won 17-0, U16A lost 14-17, U16B won 28-0, 6th vs Graeme 4th won 35-20, 3rd won 26-21, 2nds won 19-5, 1st won 36-0. Beach run (cross country): The first team competed in East London on Saturday and achieved the following results, U15: Khuselo Kene 1st. U17: Mvuyisi Kene 1st. U19: Viwe Peter 1st, Mikuso Mfobo 2nd, Vuyisinani Ngwadla 5th, Ethan Steady 6th.
