2-1 defeat for All Star team

- By Tembile Sgqolana

QHAWEKAZI Masakazi’s goal 10 minutes into the second half could not prevent All Star from losing to Cumakala Football Club, thereby enabling the latter club’s move to second position on the Sasol league over the weekend.

All Star hosted Cumakala at the Dumpy Adams stadium on Saturday, hoping to register their first win of the season but things did not go their way. Cumakala recorded a 2-1 win over the Queenstown team.

All Star are at the bottom of the Sasol league and have yet to register their first point after four games, but their hopes of survival were renewed after Coastal withdrew from the league, reducing the teams from eight to seven.

The game between the two Chris Hani district teams started with Cumakala from Lady Frere dominating the first 10 minutes but All Stars’ defence held firm.

All Star failed to use their opportunities and with only 15 minutes left before going to the break Cumakala’s Someleze Mbhadeni broke the deadlock, giving her side a well deserved lead.

The second half was entertaining and 10 minutes into the second half Masakazi equalised for her team after dribbling past the defence and putting the ball into the Cumakala goal.

With only 10 minutes left, Cumakala’s leading goal scorer with six goals after three games, Mbhadeni, scored for the second time in the game, giving Cumakala a well deserved win.
