The Women’s League calls for united ANC

- By Tembile Sgqolana

THE newly-elected ANC Women's League in the Chris Hani region has urged party members to build a united ANC which will represent the needs of the people.

The Women's League held their elective conference at the Gali Thembani Centre last week.

In an interview with The Rep, newly elected Chris Hani regional chairman and Lukhanji councillor Funeka Lungisa said the regional conference of the Women's League had been a success, with all eight sub-regions in attendance.

Lungisa said unity in the region must be championed by women.

“This is the time for us to build a united ANC in this region because we do not want to see ourselves in a bad situation, where opposition parties hold conferences in our region, like they did in Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality. As women, we are prepared to take our bags and camp in the areas where there are problems and bring unity.”

As the focus moved to next year’s local government elections, political parties were campaigning and the ANC would need to present a united front.

The other members of the regional executive committee are deputy chairman Noxolo Abrahams Ntantiso from Inxuba Yethemba, secretary Zukiswa Qayiya from Intsika Yethu, deputy secretary Lumka Mapepe from Emalahleni and treasurer Nobantu Macingwana from Ngcobo.
