24 minutes into the first half, Zizipho Yawa increased her side’s lead to two. Ten minutes later Bongisa Tshisa's goal gave Cumakala an unassailable advantage.

City's hopes where then revived when Boniswa Qakatha scored with five minutes left to half time, making the score 3-1 at the break.

The second half was highly contested as both teams kept knocking at each others’ posts. Zikhona Simon scored the second goal for her team 30 minutes after the restart of play.

With Cumakala now protecting a narrow lead, City sensed they could secure an unlikely point and it duly came in the closing stages

Sinayo Kupiso equalised with five minutes left through a free kick (3-3).

Golden City coach Monde Mnyaka said the game was fair and both teams played their best. “If the team on top loses their next game, the top three teams can close the three point lead and we can move closer. At the moment any team can take the league.”
