Soccer problems tackled
THE South African Football Association (Safa) national executive committee (NEC) and Safa provincial executive committee (PEC) have, in a meeting with over 45 teams in the Lukhanji Football Association (LFA), resolved the problems that face the association.
In a meeting attended by Safa provincial chairman Mzimkhulu Fina, who is also an NEC member, NEC member Xolile Nkompela and Mzwandile Dyali from Lukhanji municipality who was an observer, it was resolved to add the members marginalised at the elections early this year.
The Rep reported ( “Controversy over nominations,” September 19 2014) that the Queenstown zone had lodged an appeal on behalf of nominees Sandile Mata and Phumelele Hlathi, who were nominated as chairman and deputy after a letter from Safa Chris Hani region deemed the two not eligible to contest the elections.
Responding to The Rep’s questions, Safa provincial secretary Isaac Klaas said Safa in the provincial level will ensure that the resolutions taken in the meeting were carried out by developing a follow up programme of compliance.
“We would like to express our gratitude to Safa Chris Hani regional executive committee (REC) and the LFA for the support they gave in reaching an amicable solution.
“The main purpose now is to capacitate members of Safa statutes and policies in order to ensure success in that LFA and the broader Safa Chris Hani region.”
“We resolved that all teams should play under one umbrella that of a united LFA and that the current LFA executive committee should be reinforced by those who were marginalised,” he said.
