Support for little Emmi
Friends helping to get her to the US
LITTLE Emmi Rossouw of Cathcart is not yet two years old, but already she has had more trauma and medical treatment than most of us have in a lifetime. In February 2014 she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma (a rare form of cancer) at the age of just a few months. She was immediately taken to the Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Cape Town and has undergone 11 rounds of chemotherapy, but the tumour has not subsided and doctors have suggested that she go to the United States for further treatment.
Fortunately the family has medical aid so those costs have been manageable, but friends of her parents, Jaco and Nadine, have decided to hold a golf day to help with travel and future treatment costs and show their support for the young family. A golf day has been organised at the East London Golf Club for Friday July 3, but the 34 four-ball coveys were all filled within 10 days.
However sponsorship would be welcomed for the meals that are included, plus prizes, items to auction, raffles, lucky draws and, of course, cash donations as the day is intended, after all, to raise funds.
In addition to the golf there will also be an auction which already offers various hunts, sporting memorabilia, weekends away, artworks and other items still coming in.
One of the organisers said, “It is hard for others to comprehend what this little family has been through, but so heartwarming to see how people have supported them.”
Financial contributions may be made to the Emmi Rossouw fund at Investec Bank, branch code 580105, account number 50009110449. The funds are managed by Charteris and Barnes.
