Officers foil tavern break-in

-

TWICE in one day last week Red Guard security officers at a supermarket apprehended suspects for theft, operations manager Willie Reynecke told The Rep. The suspected stolen goods were recovered and returned and the suspects handed over to the police.

Soon after midnight a resident at Melton Gardens called the company’s 24-hour control room for assistance as there were suspects on his premises. Response officers apprehended two suspects who had attempted to steal tools from the garage, but nothing was taken and the complainant declined to open a case.

On Friday night a person reported that suspects were attempting to break in at a tavern, but they ran away when they saw the response officers.

A suspect was apprehended for theft from a butchery on Saturday and handed over to the police, and that afternoon response officers attended to a panic at a tavern, where they apprehended three suspects who attempted to rob the owner.

In the early hours of Sunday response officers were summoned by an alarm at a general dealer’s, where they apprehended one suspect who was handed over to the police.

That afternoon two people were apprehended for theft from a supermarket.

The stolen goods were recovered and the suspects handed over.
