Late for court

THE case against five men accused of the R1.3-million robbery of Daks International in Queenstown in 2012 hit an unexpected delay on Wednesday, with the trial postponed for February next year.

Musa Manake, Austen Luyanda Myalwa, Oupa Maphosa, Oros Mafenuka and Mkhuthazi Gxaleka appeared in the Queenstown Magistrate Court on Wednesday, after the court was delayed as Myalwa and Mafenuka were not delivered to court from Sada prison.

The court had to wait for three hours for the two accused to arrive. The men are facing charges of armed robbery, robbing a security officer of a cellphone and conspiracy to commit crime. Magistrate Fundile Dotwana referring to Myalwa and Magenu, said “there was a mistake in diarising the date in which they are going to appear in court.”

The case was postponed to February 24, 25 and 26 next year.

“Manake, Myalwa and Magenuka are in custody and Maphosa and Gxaleka are out on bail.”
