Seven will help to provide palliative care Around the Greens

SEVEN Queenstown cyclists will join in a fundraiser in aid of St Bernard’s Hospice in the latter organisation’s annual cycle challenge in November.

This year more than 30 cyclists will take to the roads from Queenstown, East London and Port Elizabeth to raise funds for the non-profit organisation with Owen Dicks, Greg Baxter, Annelize Marais, Brendan Raasch, Debbie Love, Marc Bradley and Andrew Nel flying the flag of the local cycling fraternity.

St Bernard’s Hospice provides palliative care to patients diagnosed with a life threatening illness. Marketing manager Trystan Haynes said, “St Bernard’s requires R5.5-million a year to provide such services, and our target for the Cycle Challenge is R400 000.

“These funds enable us to send carers and professional nurses into homes where families may be advised and supported, over and above the care and pain management most of their patients require.”

The St Bernard’s Hospice Cycle Challenge kicks off on Sunday, November 21, in Queenstown, where 13 of the 33 cyclists will take on the Super Hero Challenge cycling 800km over six days in pursuit of completing the round trip from Queenstown to Port Elizabeth and back to East London over six consecutive days.

Companies and individuals that wish to come on board in support of the event, cyclists and the cause may contact Haynes on (043) 721-0051. – Rep reporter Social bowls: J. Froy, M.
