AFTER the unexpected cold snap this week, it appears weather conditions are returning to what we normally expect at this time of the year.

Today’s forecast is for a 12°C start with high level cloud and a moderate breeze. The maximum will be 29°C.

Tomorrow looks good for ‘The Bong’ with temperatur­es ranging between 15 and 28°C. It will be mostly cloudy with a moderate breeze and a possibilit­y of showers towards evening.

Sunday’s maximum will be a warm 30°C after an early morning start of 11°C. There will be morning cloud and a slight chance of a little rain. The breeze will be light. – www.infosight.co.za

POLICE arrested 24 suspects during Operation Fiela over the weekend in Queenstown, Lady Frere and Cofimvaba for crimes ranging from possession of unlicensed firearms to possession of drugs.

Police spokesman lieutenant Namhla Mdleleni said on Thursday a 58-year-old man was arrested at Mhlanga locality in possession of an unlicensed firearm and magazine.

“Police proceeded to Caluke Location where they arrested a 50-year-old suspect in possession of dagga. A total of 712 fake CDs were also confiscate­d on the street in Lady Frere. Nine suspects were arrested in the Glen Grey policing area for selling liquor without a licence and liquor was confiscate­d.”

The operation continued in Queenstown on Friday where police arrested eight suspects for drunken driving, six for being drunk and disorderly and one for possession of suspected stolen property. Mdleleni said all suspects appeared in the Queenstown and Lady Frere Magistrate’s Courts and are all out on bail.

In Cofimvaba police arrested four suspects between the ages of 18 and 20 years following the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl at Qumanco in Cofimvaba on Saturday.

“It is alleged that the victim was with her boyfriend when the suspects grabbed and raped her.”

Mdleleni said a case of rape was opened and the suspects appeared before the Cofimvaba Magistrate’s Court. The case was postponed for a bail applicatio­n.
