Market for the SPCA

Event to help with fundraising Great day for the MOTHS

-

ALWAYS in dire need of funds, the Queenstown SPCA can never be accused of resting on its laurels, as it regularly has fund-raising functions on the go.

One of their major events for the year is the Christmas market planned at The Mall for Friday November 20.

Members of the public are invited to host stalls (they are hoping for about 20) where a wide range of goods will be on sale - from paintings, clothing, Christmas gifts, jewellery, foodstuffs and cakes – while the animal welfare organisation itself will run an ice-cream bar, a kiddies’ corner (with jumping castle and so on) and their monthly book stall, for this month instead of the usual Saturday morning.

The action starts at 4pm and some of the shops in The Mall will remain open until it all ends at about 8pm, so you can have fun and get your shopping done at the same time. Bali Homes plans to offer supper and a glass of wine - a pleasant way to relax after your shopping spree. All funds raised will go towards the running costs of the SPCA at Heatherton.

There are still stalls available and interested parties may call Jako on 082-79- 7815 for more information. THE Queenstown MOTHS (Hexagon Shellhole) held their annual arts and crafts market last Saturday and, as usual, many people turned up to browse among the many and varied stalls.

The weather played its part and it was a beautiful day with 36 stallholders with goods on display, some of whom had to say “sorry, sold out”.

Many took the opportunity of getting something for lunch and the Gereformeerde Kerk sold all their pancakes, while the MOTHS could not keep up with the supply of boerewors rolls, roosterkoek with spare ribs and hamburgers.

Old Bill Louis Barnes on behalf of the MOTHS thanked the Queenstown community for their support each year and as- sured the public that all funds raised will go to- wards the elderly in old age homes.
