Officers reunite child with parents

IN a busy New Year week, Red Guard response officers on Monday attended to a panic alarm at a supermarke­t where they assisted the manager to apprehend a suspect who had allegedly purchased goods with forged money, operations manager Willie Reynecke told The Rep.

They allegedly found fake notes to the value of R1 450 and both he and the money were handed over to the police.

On Tuesday officers on patrol in Sabata Dalinyebo were stopped by community members who had found a young boy wandering in the streets. The police in Mlungisi confirmed that he had been reported missing and the boy and his parents were reunited.

In the early hours of Wednesday it was reported to the company’s 24 hour control room that a window had been broken at the ANC offices in Ebden Street.

Response officers apprehende­d a suspect and took him to the ANC offices where he promised to pay for the repairs.

That night officers on patrol noticed smoke coming from the roof of a Tylden Street business. They fetched the owner and it was establishe­d that electrical wires in the roof were burning.

The municipali­ty was informed.

On Thursday officers were summoned to a shop where they apprehende­d a suspect who had allegedly robbed the store owner a while ago. In another case they apprehende­d a suspect in Mlungisi who had broken into a house and stolen goods a fortnight previously. Both were handed over to the police.

On Saturday night response officers heard a woman screaming in the vicinity of the Queenstown Museum. They found a male allegedly attempting to rape her. He got away but the woman was accompanie­d to the police station to open a case.

Early on Sunday morning officers attended to a panic where they apprehende­d a suspect breaking into a vehicle in the street. The suspect was allegedly found to have several suspected stolen items in his possession. The suspect was handed over to the police.

At about 3am on Monday officers attended to a panic at a takeaway outlet.

They allegedly found suspects breaking in through the roof and a shot was fired at the officers. They apprehende­d three of the four suspects they had seen. In a joint operation with police a further six suspects were apprehende­d.
