Several break-ins thwarted

-

AT about 10pm last Monday night Red Guard response officers in Lady Frere received a phone call regarding a person attempting to break in at a tavern, operations manager Willie Reinecke told The Rep. They apprehended a suspect on the premises who had broken in by making a hole through the wall. The suspect was handed over to the police and the owner opened a criminal case against him.

Security officers at a supermarket on Wednesday morning apprehended a sus- pect for theft. The stolen goods were returned and the suspect handed over to the police and on Friday there was a similar incident at a hardware store.

Response officers in Cofimvaba on Thursday responded to a panic alarm at a shop where they apprehended three of five suspects who had allegedly robbed the store owner the previous day and had returned to the store. The three were handed over to the police for further investigation.

On Sunday night the security officer at a scrap dealership called for assistance. Response officers had to assist three people who were given a lift to Tarkastad at a cost of R150 each, but the driver drove in the direction of the scrapyard where he robbed the three of all their belongings and money and left them in the dark. They were taken to the police station.

Later the same night the security officer at a liquor outlet reported to the company’s 24 hour control room that he had seen a suspect breaking in at the Lukhanji human settlement offices. Response officers apprehended a suspect and handed him over to the police. – Rep reporter
