Komani youth dies in bus crash
KOMANI was left in mourning this week after the death of a Hoërskool Grens and former Hangklip pupil, Clinton Bosman, 15, in a collision on the R72 near East London on Sunday.
Bosman and teammates from the Grens first cricket team were travelling in a school bus when it collided with a car at the R72/M23 intersection.
Onisa Veletshona, 4, a passenger in the car, also died on the scene.
Nine other Grens pupils were injured while the driver of the car, who is facing drunk driving charges, was in a serious condition in hospital.
The death of Bosman, who attended both Hangklip schools, elicited much response and sadness on social media. He was the son of Clifton and Janice Bosman of Komani, who also have another son, Ryan, at Grens and a daughter, Reigene.
Hangklip High School principal Albré Wagener said the pupils were shattered.
“It's a tragic story. He was with his brother at our school for some time. He had a lot of potential. The pupils have lost a close friend.”
He described Bosman as a talented rugby and cricket player.
“He made a great contribution to our school. He was a friendly boy and a beloved person.”
Another Komani boy, Linton Dilley, 16, has been admitted to the Frere Hospital but his condition is not critical.
He has a suspected cracked pelvis, but this had not been confirmed at the time of writing and his mother, Linda Dilley, is in East London with him.
