DRAKENSBERG INSURANCE owner Quintin Wentzel entered into the short term insurance industry in 1995. In March 2003, Quintin decided to start his own brokerage and Drakensberg Insurance was “born”. As the business expanded, the need to enhance the administration process and upgrade the information technology systems also grew. Being unafraid to adapt to the ever-changing face of the industry has resulted in an exponential growth over the past 14 years, which has necessitated the reinventing of the business brand.
CATHCART MULTITRUST was founded in 1979 by Kobus Rossouw in the Cathcart district. Based on values of trust and integrity coupled with sound financial advice the firm quickly developed into a very well respected insurance brokerage in the area. Over the years the firm continued to grow with Kobus’ two sons Jaco and Johan joining him in 2009 and 2012 respectively. They are both chartered accountants and also certified financial planners which added a new dimension to the firm with an accounting and tax division being opened shortly after they joined. In recent years Cathcart Multitrust has continued expanding with a small office in Stutterheim and an accounting office in East London. Core to both the Drakensberg Insurance and Cathcart Multitrust strategies has always been the challenge of continuity and remaining relevant in the various fields that we service. With this strategy in mind it made good business sense to explore ways of merging the two business since both firms share a similar set of values and business philosophies. With the above as background we are pleased to announce that we have joined forces this year and will hence forth trade under MULTITRUST name with a brand new logo! The merger gives us access to people, systems and relationships that create enhanced value for our clients and ensures the continuity of the new Multitrust firm for many, many years to come! We will comprise of offices in Cathcart, Queenstown, Stutterheim and East London. Our business philosophies when both Drakensberg Insurance and Cathcart Multitrust were founded understood that our clientele are our friends and community which inadvertently creates a deep care and loyalty towards them. This philosophy continues to underpin all we do – we believe this is one of the characteristics that sets us apart in our industry.
Our services are defined into three broad categories:
Insurance: we now manage one of the largest short term insurance books in the Border area which affords us a certain degree of buy-in and system access with the major insurance companies. Our viewpoint in this industry is one of value i.e. the right cover at the right price.
Tax: our accounting business ranges from individual income tax to small / medium sized businesses with specific focus on farming enterprises. Our accounting team is ever expanding and currently includes three chartered accountants.
Wealth: in addition to offering access to various investment platforms we understand that building and preserving wealth is an area that requires exceptional expertise. The synergies that we have in place across our business enable us to assist our clients throughout their various life stages i.e. from the drafting of wills to financial planning, life insurance and investments all the way through to the administration of deceased estates.
