Police in the Glen Grey area are investigating the rape of two seven-year-old girls in Tsembeyi on Saturday.

Police spokesperson Captain Namhla Mdleleni said a suspect, aged 45, had since been arrested.

The children were allegedly grabbed while playing with friends and then raped.

In a separate incident in Cacadu, police have arrested a 27-year-old man after a woman, 30, was assaulted over the weekend.

Mdleleni said the man and woman were allegedly drinking together when a quarrel broke out. The woman died on the scene.

Police in Ilinge are investigating a case of rape after a man entered a home on Saturday and attacked a woman.

The woman, aged 69, was with her husband when a man entered. He dragged the woman outside and raped her before fleeing from the scene. Police are investigating a case of robbery and rape.

Mdleleni said police condemned violence against women and children and appealed to the community to assist in the fight against crime. – Rep reporter
