Deaths in Komani and Ilinge
A suspect is in custody following the death of a 35-year-old man in Nomzamo in Komani at the weekend.
Police spokesperson Captain Namhla Mdleleni said the men had been quarreling when one was assaulted so severely that he had to be taken to Frontier Hospital. He later died in hospital. The suspect appeared in the Queenstown Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
In a separate incident, a suspect was arrested following the murder of a 54-year-old woman on a farm in the Komani district last week.
Mdleleni said the woman’s body was found by a passer-by.
She had been strangled.
In the third incident, in Ilinge, a 43-year-old woman was assaulted and died following a quarrel with a suspect in a tavern.
The woman and the suspect were allegedly drinking together when a fight broke out. The woman later died in Frontier Hospital. The suspect has appeared in the Ezibeleni Magistrate’s Court.
