Deaths in Komani and Ilinge

A sus­pect is in cus­tody fol­low­ing the death of a 35-year-old man in Nomzamo in Komani at the week­end.

Po­lice spokesper­son Cap­tain Namhla Mdle­leni said the men had been quar­rel­ing when one was as­saulted so se­verely that he had to be taken to Fron­tier Hospi­tal. He later died in hospi­tal. The sus­pect ap­peared in the Queen­stown Mag­is­trate’s Court on Mon­day.

In a sep­a­rate in­ci­dent, a sus­pect was ar­rested fol­low­ing the mur­der of a 54-year-old wo­man on a farm in the Komani district last week.

Mdle­leni said the wo­man’s body was found by a passer-by.

She had been stran­gled.

In the third in­ci­dent, in Ilinge, a 43-year-old wo­man was as­saulted and died fol­low­ing a quar­rel with a sus­pect in a tav­ern.

The wo­man and the sus­pect were al­legedly drink­ing to­gether when a fight broke out. The wo­man later died in Fron­tier Hospi­tal. The sus­pect has ap­peared in the Ez­i­be­leni Mag­is­trate’s Court.
