Komani pilot killed in crash

Well-known Komani businessman and pilot Pierre Scheepers died on Sunday following a plane crash in the district.

Scheepers, 55, was the owner of Kei Bodies in the town.

He was taking a relative for a flight early on Sunday when the plane crashed, apparently during take-off.

The relative was taken to an East London hospital in a critical condition, police spokeswoman Captain Namhla Mdleleni confirmed.

Tribute was paid to Scheepers in a memorial service yesterday. He leaves his wife, Lin, and two daughters, Kirsten and Jenna, from an earlier marriage. – Rep reporter
