The Rep ed­i­tor re­signs

The ed­i­tor of The Rep, Sonja Raasch, has re­signed and will be leav­ing the news­pa­per at the end of No­vem­ber.

Raasch ma­tric­u­lated at Stut­ter­heim High School and ob­tained a BA de­gree in lan­guages at the then Uni­ver­sity of Port El­iz­a­beth.

She be­gan work as a re­porter for The Rep in 1993 and in 1995 trans­ferred to the Daily Dis­patch’s Queenstown bureau.

Ap­pointed ed­i­tor of The Rep in 2003, she was pro­moted to group ed­i­tor of Tiso Black­star com­mu­nity news­pa­pers, re­spon­si­ble for The Rep, the Go! and Ex­press in East Lon­don and Talk of the Town in Port Al­fred in 2015.

She has joined the staff of the English de­part­ment at Queen’s Col­lege and will as­sume du­ties when schools open at the be­gin­ning of 2019.

She is mar­ried to a lo­cal busi­ness­man Bren­dan Raasch, and they have three chil­dren.
