Red Guard response officers apprehended a man who allegedly tried to buy goods with a fake R200 note last week, operations manager Willie Reynecke said.

He was handed over to the police. Last Tuesday, response officers reacted to an alarm at a local hardware store, where they apprehended a suspect and recovered stolen items. The suspect was handed over to the police.

A response officer on patrol in Dugmore Street last week saw a person carrying a large bag.

The bag was found to contain cash, cigarettes, energy drinks and cellular phones and the man was not able to explain where the goods came from.

He was handed over to the police on suspicion of having stolen goods in his possession.

Later in the day, a response officer noticed a hole in a fence of a local retail store. It was found a suspect had broken into the store and stolen items.

Officers reacting to a panic button at a local garage, assisted a security officer who had almost been stabbed during a fight. Another person who had been assaulted was taken to the police station for his own safety.
