Last Tuesday, Red Guard response officers attended to a panic alarm at a local hair salon. The officers were shown a woman who had fallen down, allegedly as a result of a suspected stroke, operations manager Willie Reynecke said.

There was no ambulance available in Komani and the response officer went to the clinic to find a nurse who could assist. The nurse confirmed that the woman had passed away.

Response officers apprehended a man who had threatened to kill the owner of a recycling business and handed him over to the police last Wednesday.

An attempted break-in at a Mlungisi bottle store was foiled after a response officer on patrol noticed that the chain which secured a cage with liquor had been cut. He informed the owner and a guard was posted until the morning.

On Friday, response officers saw suspects robbing an elderly person at a local bank. The suspects fled in a Toyota vehicle with the officers giving chase. Three suspects were apprehended near a local mall with several bank cards and cash recovered. The suspects were handed over to the police.

A Westbourne resident, who had called Red Guard to report the alleged assault of a child by his father in the street, was assisted and the child, aged 14, was taken to the police station.
