Christmas market proves roaring festive success

Plans for next year in full swing as crowds create wonderful vibe

- CHUX FOURIE

The Balmoral Christmas market held last weekend was so successful that the enthusiastic organising committee is already making plans for next year’s event.

There was huge variety among the 70 stalls offering all sorts of goodies for sale – from cakes and bakes to clothes, wooden crafts, spring rolls and samoosas to hamburgers, chips, face painting, character coffee mugs, bunches and bunches of fresh proteas, beauty products, plastic storage containers, teacher bags, dog beds, pet treats, preserves, rusks, a bookshop, sheepskin slippers and when visitors were all shopped out, they could rest their weary feet and have a cuppa in the tea room.

There was a wonderful turnout from the community whose support went beyond the wildest dreams of the organisers, and neither the heat nor the wind could do anything to harm the great vibe, or dampen the enthusiasm of visitors or those just there to have fun. Organiser Nikki Milne told The Rep, “We have had so many good reports and compliments from all over and we are super chuffed with the way it turned out this year and it will definitely be on the calendar for 2019. Sincere thanks to everyone concerned in any way”.

She added that they were already looking forward to next year and thinking about any changes that should be made or what aspects of the market should be retained.
