‘Follow the Star’ to kick off the season

A wonderful way to start the Christmas season, not only for the children but for the adults too, is for the family to have a meal together and then drive around and view the beautiful Christmas lights decorating the outside of many homes over the festive season.

The Anns of the Queenstown Rotary Club have, for a number of years, hosted Follow the Star and there are many children who just can’t wait for this very festive event to kick off.

Those in attendance gather at the Rotary Club in Frost Street from about 6pm where they can have something to eat and drink while they wait for the sun to set . . .and, who knows, maybe a man in a red suit may come along to visit.

Once it gets dark they are given a list of clues which, when followed, will take them round to the various homes of people who have agreed to put their homes on view, which has everyone marvelling at the wonderful displays of Santas, sleighs, reindeer, bells, angels, stars, Christmas trees and all things Christmassy.

The children not only enjoy the twinkling lights, but also love unravelling the clues and this makes for a wonderful evening’s festive entertainment for the whole family – at only the cost of the food.

So don’t miss out – Follow the Star from 6pm this evening and give your family a real treat.
