Numerous break-ins thwarted by officers

In the early hours of Monday morning, a Red Guard response officer on patrol apprehende­d two suspects who had allegedly stolen cool drinks from the back of a truck at a petrol station in Cathcart Road, operations manager Willie Reinecke told The Rep.

The suspects were handed over to the police after the truck driver decided to open a criminal case. The recovered merchandis­e was handed back to the driver.

On Wednesday evening, response officers attended to an alarm activation at a wholesale business in Dickerson Street.

They apprehende­d two suspects who had allegedly stolen liquor from a storage area.

The recovered liquor was returned and the suspects were released after the manager declined to open a criminal case.

Response officers attended to a panic alarm at a petrol station on Friday evening.

A suspect was found inside the building after allegedly breaking in. The suspect was handed over to the police.

On Saturday evening, a security officer on duty at municipal premises activated the panic alarm after noticing a suspect on site.

Response officers were dispatched and it was discovered that a vehicle battery had been stolen.

Response officers responded to an alarm activation on Sunday at a business in Komani Street, where they apprehende­d a suspect who had allegedly stolen a garden hosepipe.

The hosepipe was handed back to the owner and the suspect was released after the owner declined to open a criminal case.
