How to get into real estate

-

Ongoing lockdown restrictions have unfortunately left many retrenched or without work – forcing them to reconsider their career options and switch over into an industry that is able to continue operating. One such industry is the real estate market, which is experiencing increased activity following the easing of lockdown restrictions at level 5 and 4.

During and after the lockdown, RE/MAX of Southern Africa reported an increase of nearly 200 new sales associates.

The company also concluded record-breaking reported sales totals for the months following the hard lockdown. This increased activity can in part be attributed to pent-up demand and record low interest rates.

However, it also highlights the benefits of being affiliated to a global brand with ongoing support and resources to help its agents become successful within a challenging market.

“Though it is not an easy option, a career in real estate can potentially be one of the most lucrative professions a person can pursue provided one gets the correct guidance and support when starting out,” explains Adrian Goslett, regional director and CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa.

To qualify as a registered estate agent, one must have grade 12 and do a 12-month internship under a certified principal estate agent as well as completing a Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC): Real Estate (NQF 4) qualification and writing the final Professional Designation Examination (PDE).
